Make a meaningful difference as a Specialist and Teacher for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students in an educational setting near Gordonsville, VA. In this contract role, you’ll have the opportunity to support and empower students with hearing impairments, fostering both their academic growth and confidence. Requirements for Success:
- Valid certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or equivalent state credentials
- Experience supporting DHH students in K-12 school settings is highly preferred
- Skilled in developing and adapting Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Comfortable collaborating with general education teachers, families, and related service providers
- Competence in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities for DHH students
- Ability to assess student needs and develop differentiated lesson plans
- Strong communication and advocacy skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to DHH students in one-on-one and small group settings
- Develop and implement IEPs and monitor student progress
- Provide consultative support to classroom teachers, ensuring accommodations and accessibility
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Serve as a resource for families, helping navigate learning supports and available services
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, evaluations, and school-wide initiatives
