Job DescriptionThe Housekeeping Facilities & Projects Manager is responsible for the condition, organization, functionality, and appearance of Housekeeping-controlled areas and departmental assets throughout the hotel. This position oversees public-area and overnight cleaning operations, coordinates preventive maintenance and equipment repairs, manages special cleaning projects, and ensures facility concerns are documented, prioritized, followed through, and verified upon completion.
The manager works closely with Engineering, Security, Purchasing, outside vendors, and hotel leadership to minimize equipment downtime, address recurring facility concerns, and maintain safe and efficient Housekeeping workspaces. The ideal leader is visible in the operation, highly organized, comfortable holding employees accountable, and persistent in following open items through completion.

- Identify maintenance, cleanliness, organization, safety, and appearance concerns; submit detailed work orders and maintain a centralized tracking log.
- Prioritize concerns based on guest impact, employee safety, operational urgency, and room availability, and maintain clear status updates.
- Follow up with Engineering and other responsible departments until work is completed, then physically verify the result.
- Track recurring facility concerns, recommend longer-term corrective action, and coordinate the timely return of guestrooms or areas that are unavailable.
Housekeeping Equipment and Asset Management
- Maintain an accurate inventory of Housekeeping equipment and operational assets.
- Oversee the condition and availability of vacuums, carpet extractors, floor machines, carts, bins, radios, mobile devices, keys, rollaway beds, and related equipment.
- Establish preventive-maintenance schedules in partnership with Engineering and approved vendors.
- Coordinate equipment repairs, document repair history and downtime, and ensure unsafe equipment is removed from service until repaired or replaced.
- Evaluate equipment trials and develop replacement recommendations based on safety, durability, efficiency, condition, cost, and operational practicality.
Public Areas, Overnight Operations, and Special Projects
- Provide direct supervision and operational direction to assigned Public Area Attendants, Overnight Cleaners, and Housepersons.
- Maintain clear checklists defining area ownership, cleaning frequency, quality standards, and verification requirements.
- Inspect lobbies, restrooms, elevators, meeting areas, spa and locker rooms, fitness areas, offices, loading areas, and assigned back-of-house spaces.
- Develop schedules for carpet care, floor care, upholstery cleaning, high dusting, elevator detailing, grout cleaning, wall washing, and other periodic projects.
- Coordinate preventive-maintenance cleaning and special projects based on occupancy, group activity, and hotel priorities, and verify completed work through physical inspection.
Vendor and Interdepartmental Coordination
- Coordinate project scope, access, timing, and operational requirements with Engineering, Security, Purchasing, Front Office, Food and Beverage, Spa, and other affected departments.
- Coordinate vendors performing Housekeeping-related repairs, installations, inspections, or specialty cleaning.
- Review the agreed scope, inspect completed work, and maintain vendor proposals, service records, warranties, invoices, and supporting documentation.
- Assist leadership in comparing proposals and making recommendations based on quality, cost, safety, and operational impact.
- Coordinate repair and maintenance activity without performing technical or skilled-trade work assigned to Engineering.
Workplace Organization and Safety
- Maintain clean, organized, secure, and clearly labeled Housekeeping storage and equipment areas.
- Establish appropriate storage and sign-out controls for shared equipment, keys, devices, and operational assets.
- Conduct regular safety inspections; immediately report unsafe conditions or equipment; and follow corrective actions through completion.
- Support compliance with PPE, chemical-handling, ergonomic, and equipment-safety requirements and assist with related incident or near-miss reviews.
Leadership and Employee Development
- Remain visible and engaged in assigned operations, including during high-volume periods and overnight project work as needed.
- Prepare schedules and daily assignments for assigned Public Area, Overnight, and Project employees in accordance with operational needs, seniority requirements, and the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
- Monitor attendance, productivity, work quality, and completion of assigned responsibilities and provide timely coaching, recognition, retraining, and objective documentation.
- Conduct briefings that communicate priorities, safety information, project status, and equipment concerns.
- Promote respectful communication, accountability, teamwork, and consistent follow-through.
Budget, Planning, and Reporting
- Assist with annual operating and capital requests related to Housekeeping facilities, equipment, and project needs.
- Monitor repair costs and recommend repair or replacement based on condition, lifecycle, and operational impact.
- Maintain estimates, photographs, proposals, and operational justification for proposed projects.
- Provide regular updates regarding outstanding work orders, project costs, risks, equipment downtime, and concerns requiring future capital investment.
Performance Focus
