JOB DESCRIPTION: PERFORMING ARTS CENTERS OPERATIONS LEAD Salary Schedule: SCHEDULE V Department: FINE ARTS FLSA Status: NON-EXEMPT Safety‑Sensitive: YES Position Summary The Performing Arts Centers (PAC) Operations Lead provides districtwide coordination and operational oversight for Mid-Del Public Schools’ three primary performing arts centers. This position manages facility scheduling, supports technical theater operations, supervises event logistics, and ensures safe and efficient use of district performing arts facilities. The specialist supports district fine arts programs while coordinating community use of district venues. Position may require evening and weekend hours to support performances and events. Qualification Requirements Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily Valid Oklahoma Driver's License with a driving record acceptable to the District Insurance Carrier Must be available for unscheduled, emergency call, and shall provide a reasonable method of communication during unscheduled, emergency situations Bachelor’s degree in Theatre or Theatre Production preferred but not required Minimum of three (3) years of experience in theater operations, venue management, or technical theater leadership preferred Knowledge of theater lighting, sound, and stage systems Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to manage multiple events and schedules Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace Essential Duties And Responsibilities The employee shall work at heights not to exceed 110 feet as well as in confined spaces above, below, or at ground level. Manage the master calendar for all district Performing Arts Centers (PAC), prioritizing district events and coordinating community rentals. Serve as the primary contact for external facility users and assist with rental agreements, scheduling, and event logistics. Provide operational oversight of theater technology, including lighting, sound, and stage equipment. The employee must possess good communication skills and attention to details in addition to a strong balanced hearing ability, technical knowledge of electricity and electronics, and knowledge of the capabilities of different types of sound equipment. Employee is responsible for set up of microphones in various places in the Performing Arts Centers (PAC) as well as running sound checks to assess sound levels and confirm the proper functioning of the equipment. Support technical needs for district performances, concerts, productions, and special events. Employee shall schedule lighting hangs, focus calls, cueing sessions, light board, and spot training with Drama, Vocal Music, Band, & Orchestra directors and students. Shall maintain an instrument & equipment inventory of all lighting, effects, and sound equipment as well as preventive maintenance schedule for all depreciating equipment. Shall possess proper time management, organizational skills, and the ability to react quickly and creatively to problems that may arise. Develops a working knowledge of vendors, purchase orders, work orders, and call‑in work requests. Recruit, train, and supervise technical support staff and student workers for events. Coordinate with maintenance, custodial, and security teams to support events. Ensure compliance with district safety policies and theater safety procedures. Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above. Language And Grammar Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fume or airborne particles. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places (including ladders and backstage areas) and in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, extreme cold (including outdoors), extreme heat (including direct sunlight), risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment will vary from somewhat loud to extremely loud. To ensure continuity of services, a different work location may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee’s eligibility for a varied work location will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for this change will be distributed by the employee’s supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities. Supervisory Responsibilities Employee may occasionally be required to supervise a varying number of employees in the overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned.
