Assistant Project Manager

Assistant Project Manager Reports to the Project Manager. The Assistant Project Manager (APM) assists the project team in completing each assigned project within established schedule and budget parameters, in a manner consistent with customer‑focused project delivery standards. The APM must be able to multi‑task, prioritize their own responsibilities, and develop strong relationships with industry contacts including customers, the design community, owners representatives, and subcontractors. The APM works in concert with the Director of Operations, Project Executives, PM’s, on‑site Superintendents, and the General Superintendent. The APM communicates and enforces safety procedures and site rules, assists in the management of overall project and project requirements, and ensures project milestones are met. Responsibilities Receive, log, file, and control shop drawings Assist with processing of RFIs Follow up on quantities in place weekly with support of Superintendent Quantity take‑off for field procurement and change orders Assist Project Manager and Superintendent in preparing and updating schedule Assist Project Manager with change order proposals Prepare and distribute meeting minutes Assist Super in development of initial punch list Manage closeout and procure all closeout materials as the project progresses Assist with subcontractor solicitation and procurement Assist with estimating Submittal and shop drawing review and processing Assist with and attend PSR meetings Ensure closeouts are timely, complete, and accurate Perform other related duties as assigned Soft Skills Customer Satisfaction: Create a positive, long‑lasting client experience Active critical problem‑solving skills; go and find the answers Ask the right questions timely, avoiding fire drills and errors Be proactive and assertive. Show a can‑do attitude daily Consistency in work product; do not settle for average Required Skills and Abilities B.S. in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent, plus experience/knowledge of construction 1‑3 years of experience in related construction fields Thorough knowledge of Safety Program Basic scheduling understanding Excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Willingness to travel Ability to work under pressure Extremely detail‑oriented Ability to read, understand, and execute blueprints, drawings, and plans Understanding of quality building practices Ability to quickly identify problems Computer proficiency in Excel, Word, and preferred tools such as Procore, BluBeam, and ComputerEase Physical Requirements: Workers must be able to see well (naturally or with corrective lenses), coordinate eye, hand, and finger movements, use arms fully, climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at heights as required, and lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally more. Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction site in all types of weather. Education and experience: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management, or related field required.
