Overview
Registered Nurse – Med Surg Tele
Location: Burlington, Vermont, United States
Start date: November 16, 2026
Duration: 16 weeks
Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Setting: Travel temporary assignment in a hospital-style environment focused on Medical-Surgical and Telemetry care with floating to related units as needed
Weekly pay: $2,556 to $2,751 per week

- Primary units: Medical-Surgical and Telemetry; float to neurosurgical/surgical and other related units as required
- Holidays: Travel staff may be scheduled to work 2 of the 4 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Day)
- EPIC experience required within the past 2 years
- Requires neurosurgical/surgical unit experience and a strong trauma-level background

Responsibilities
- Provide direct, individualized nursing care to adult patients in the Med Surg Tele area, following physician orders and established care plans
- Monitor patient status, administer medications, perform focused assessments, and document findings accurately in the electronic health record (EPIC)
- Participate in care planning, update families, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and timely discharges
- Recognize and respond promptly to changes in neurological status; perform NIH Stroke Scale assessments prior to start and as needed
- Float to additional units within the central pool, including hematology, oncology, orthopedics, ENT, GYN, general surgery, neuro units (including neuro SDU), neurosurgery, and ED boarders when required
- Adhere to infection control practices, patient safety protocols, and unit guidelines; participate in handoffs and shift reports
- Maintain flexibility in scheduling to meet unit and patient care needs; comply with bi-weekly orientation on Mondays

Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (required prior to start)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience
- Experience in a large trauma level 1 teaching facility preferred
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records within the past 2 years
- Demonstrated experience in neurosurgical and surgical units; ability to float to related units and support areas as needed
- Ability to work a 12-hour night shift and adapt to a travel assignment with variable scheduling
