Role Description The Assistant role at J.Crew Factory is a part-time, on-site position based in Durham, NC. This role supports store operations by greeting customers, answering questions about products and promotions, and ensuring a welcoming, organized shopping environment. Daily tasks include replenishing and arranging merchandise on the sales floor, assisting with fitting rooms, and maintaining visual standards aligned with brand guidelines. The Assistant also helps at checkout by preparing items, managing gift receipts or returns, and supporting smooth customer transactions. Additional responsibilities may include basic stockroom organization, tagging or folding items, and collaborating with team members and leadership to meet sales and service goals. Qualifications Customer service and retail support skills, including friendly interaction, active listening, and a focus on delivering a positive in-store experience. Basic sales and merchandising skills, such as product knowledge, suggestive selling, and maintaining clean, visually appealing displays. Organization and time-management abilities to handle multiple tasks, keep the sales floor tidy, and support efficient stockroom operations. Collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with store leadership and team members in a fast-paced environment. Ability to stand, move, and lift light to moderate items for extended periods in a retail setting. Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on store needs.
