We are looking for a Senior Cost Accountant to join our team in Bloomington, Minnesota and provide financial insight that supports operational and strategic decision-making. This position plays a central role in manufacturing finance, with responsibility for cost analysis, inventory valuation, forecasting support, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to partner effectively with cross-functional leaders to turn data into actionable business recommendations.

Responsibilities:
• Manage core cost accounting activities, including maintaining costing methodologies, preparing journal entries, completing account reconciliations, and preserving accurate supporting records.
• Support inventory control by participating in physical counts, researching discrepancies, and ensuring inventory balances are properly reconciled.
• Evaluate material, labor, and overhead results to explain variances, highlight performance trends, and identify financial risks or improvement opportunities.
• Work closely with plant and operations leadership to provide reporting and analysis that clarifies business performance and supports informed decision-making.
• Contribute to budgeting, annual planning, and forecast cycles by comparing actual financial results with expected performance and explaining key differences.
• Assist with month-end close and improve the quality, consistency, and efficiency of financial reporting processes.
• Partner with teams across operations, supply chain, and finance to connect operational activity with financial outcomes and strengthen overall business understanding.
• Lead or support special projects, ad hoc reporting, and other finance initiatives based on organizational priorities.
• Travel overnight when needed to support business objectives and operational requirements.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

• At least 2 years of experience in cost accounting, with manufacturing finance experience strongly preferred.

• Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting, standard costing, inventory valuation, and cost analysis.

• Familiarity with U.S. GAAP; exposure to IFRS is beneficial.

• Experience working with production costing, financial models, and plant-related financial processes.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial information and identify meaningful trends.

• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across multiple functions and organizational levels.

• Certification such as CPA or CMA is preferred.
