Hotel Maintenance HandymanThe Hotel Maintenance Handyman is responsible for performing a variety of general maintenance, repair, and upkeep duties throughout the hotel property. This position helps ensure that guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, equipment, and building systems are maintained in a safe, clean, functional, and presentable condition. The ideal candidate is a skilled, dependable, hands-on individual who can troubleshoot problems, complete repairs efficiently, and take pride in maintaining the overall appearance and operation of the hotel.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform general repairs and maintenance throughout the hotel, including guest rooms, hallways, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.Repair and patch drywall, including holes, cracks, and damaged surfaces.Perform interior and exterior painting and touch-up work as needed.Repair, replace, and maintain flooring, including carpet, tile, and other floor surfaces.Perform carpet cleaning and spot cleaning as needed.Assist with plumbing repairs, including faucets, toilets, sinks, drains, and minor leaks.Perform basic HVAC troubleshooting and maintenance, including PTAC units, thermostats, filters, and other equipment.Perform basic electrical repairs and troubleshooting, such as replacing light fixtures, switches, outlets, and bulbs, when qualified and permitted.Repair and maintain doors, locks, hinges, closers, furniture, and other fixtures.Assist with preventive maintenance programs and routine inspections of hotel equipment and building systems.Respond promptly to maintenance requests and guest room work orders.Identify and report major maintenance issues requiring specialized contractors or licensed technicians.Assist with pool, laundry, kitchen, and other hotel equipment maintenance as needed.Maintain hotel grounds and exterior areas, including basic repairs and general upkeep.Keep maintenance tools, equipment, and work areas clean, organized, and secure.Maintain accurate records of completed work and report recurring or significant issues to management.Follow all hotel safety procedures, OSHA guidelines, and applicable building and fire codes.Provide professional and courteous service when interacting with guests and hotel employees.Assist other departments and management with special projects and hotel improvement initiatives.Perform other duties as assigned by management.QualificationsPrevious experience in hotel maintenance, apartment maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction, or a related field preferred.General knowledge of drywall, painting, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, flooring, and general building repairs.Ability to troubleshoot problems and determine appropriate repair solutions.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple maintenance requests.Ability to respond to emergency maintenance situations when necessary.Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.Ability to safely use common hand and power tools.Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and materials as required.Valid driver's license preferred.Physical RequirementsMust be physically capable of performing the essential duties of the position.Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, reach, and work in confined or elevated areas.Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull tools, equipment, and maintenance materials as required.Ability to perform hands-on maintenance and repair work for extended periods.Must be able to safely perform tasks associated with drywall, painting, plumbing, HVAC, carpet cleaning, and general hotel maintenance.Overall GoalThe goal of this position is to keep the hotel in excellent physical condition by addressing maintenance issues quickly, completing quality repairs, preventing recurring problems, and helping provide a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for guests and employees.
