Night Shift Operations Supervisor

Position Overview:Palmer-Donavin is a leading distributor of building materials serving customers throughout the Midwest and Southeast. Our night shift operation plays a critical role in delivering on our promise of outstanding service to our customers.The Night Shift Supervisor is responsible for leading the warehouse night shift operation and ensuring all outbound material is pulled, packaged, and loaded safely, accurately, and on schedule for delivery to customers.This role oversees nightly workflow, assigns tasks, and manages the performance and development of the night shift team. The supervisor works closely with operations leadership and other departments to resolve issues, maintain safety standards, and ensure warehouse operations run efficiently.This position is a hands-on working supervisor role, supporting the team on the warehouse floor while directing workflow, maintaining operational standards, and driving accountability for results.The night shift plays a critical role in delivering Palmer-Donavin’s commitment to outstanding customer service by ensuring materials are prepared and loaded correctly for next-day delivery.Shift: Sunday - Thursday 7:30pm - 4:00am (overtime as business requires).Key Responsibilities:Lead nightly outbound warehouse operations to ensure orders are pulled, packaged, and loaded safely, accurately, and on schedule for deliveryAssign and prioritize work across the shift based on nightly workload and operational needsLead daily startup meetings to review safety topics, previous day errors, KPI performance, and the nightly workloadAssist employees with pulling, packaging, and loading outbound material as needed to meet operational deadlinesConduct quality control inspections of outbound trucks to ensure materials are loaded correctly and secured for safe transportMonitor workflow and adjust work distribution or staffing to maintain efficiency and productivityTroubleshoot operational issues and coordinate with sales, purchasing, and operations teams to resolve problems quicklyMonitor team performance and coach employees to meet productivity, quality, and attendance expectationsSupervise, train, and develop warehouse employees to build a reliable and high-performing teamSupport hiring and onboarding efforts, including interviewing candidates and assisting with new employee trainingEnforce company safety policies, conduct daily safety discussions, and investigate accidents or safety incidentsMaintain communication with operations leadership and participate in meetings to support operational performance and continuous improvementQualifications:High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)1+ years of experience in managementRequirements:Satisfactory criminal history checkSatisfactory result on a pre-employment drug screeningBenefits:Employee owners enjoy a comprehensive benefits package including:Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)Company performance bonuses401(k) with company matchingMedical, dental, and vision coverageLife and disability insurancePaid time off beginning in the first yearParental leaveWellness programEmployee discounts on building materialsOngoing training and development opportunities #J-18808-Ljbffr Palmer-Donavin
