District Physical Therapist Licensure: Licensed Physical Therapist in the State of Illinois

Job Summary: The Physical Therapist evaluates students' physical and functional abilities and provides physical therapy services and recommendations to support student access, mobility, and participation in educational programs within the least restrictive educational environment.

• Assess students' gross motor skills, mobility, posture, balance, strength, and functional movement as part of initial evaluations and reevaluations.
• Determine eligibility for physical therapy services and develop recommendations in collaboration with the IEP team.
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEP-based physical therapy goals and service plans.
• Provide direct and indirect physical therapy services to support student access, participation, and progress in educational settings.
• Consult and collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators, and related service providers regarding student needs, programming, and accommodations.
• Recommend and support the use of adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and environmental modifications to improve accessibility and mobility.
• Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and other meetings as required.
• Maintain accurate documentation, reports, progress notes, and service logs in compliance with IDEA, FERPA, ISBE regulations, and District procedures.
• Supervise and provide direction to Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs), as assigned, in accordance with licensure requirements.
• Support transition planning and accessibility considerations across school environments.
• Maintain professional licensure and engage in ongoing professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned that are consistent with the scope of the position.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions This position may require lifting, carrying, or transferring students, materials, or equipment weighing up to 3050 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation, and performing physical activities associated with providing physical therapy services in a school setting.

Term of Employment As per the school calendar, as required by the State Board of Education and approved by the School Board.

Salary: The starting salary for this position is based on experience and qualifications, in accordance with the Board-approved salary schedule and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
