Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Surgical Nurse provides specialized perioperative care for patients undergoing various surgical procedures. The role involves collaborating with surgical teams to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes throughout the operative process.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing the operating room and ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
• Monitor patient vital signs and overall condition during surgical procedures.
• Maintain strict aseptic techniques and adhere to sterile protocols.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other OR staff to facilitate smooth operations.
• Document all patient care activities accurately in accordance with hospital policies.
• Support patient positioning and safety measures before and during surgery.

Qualifications:

• Hold an active RN license in good standing.
• Possess a minimum of 2 years of perioperative or OR nursing experience.
• Demonstrate current BLS and NIH certifications.
• Be proficient in Epic electronic health record systems, with documentation within the last 12 months.
• Able to circulate in diverse surgical procedures, including neuro, ortho, general, urology, gyn, robotics, endovascular, and laparoscopic cases.
• Pass the Epic competency exam, with an acceptable attempt record.
