Staff Accountant

AccountantPosition Summary

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting activities. This role will be responsible for accounts payable and receivable processing, general ledger accounting, month-end close activities, audit support, financial statement preparation, and maintaining strong internal controls. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and experience working in a fast-paced environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting Operations

• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and timely.
• Review and process employee expense reports in compliance with company policies.
• Investigate and resolve payment-related issues while collaborating with internal stakeholders.
• Support day-to-day accounting activities and ensure accurate financial recordkeeping.

General Ledger & Month-End Close

• Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with US GAAP and/or IFRS.
• Perform account reconciliations and analyze general ledger activity to ensure accuracy.
• Reconcile bank accounts and monitor cash balances.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Support the accounting team to ensure timely completion of financial close activities.

Financial Reporting

• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports and management reporting packages.
• Support the preparation of financial statements and related disclosures in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
• Perform preliminary variance analysis and assist with budget-to-actual comparisons.

Audit & Compliance

• Maintain supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
• Assist auditors by providing account analyses, schedules, and requested documentation.
• Help ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist with implementing enhanced accounting procedures.

Additional Support

• Participate in accounting system implementations, enhancements, and process improvement initiatives.
• Provide support to accounting leadership and other department stakeholders as needed.
• Maintain organized financial records and documentation.

QualificationsRequired Education & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of general accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS accounting standards.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems/ERP platforms.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
