The Telemetry/Monitor Technician must possess effective communication skills. This position will routinely perform Unit Secretary duties for the unit as assigned (see Unit Secretary Job Description). This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the quality and performance improvement process activities.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.Performs ongoing observation of the cardiac monitors and interprets cardiac rhythms correctly. 2.Detects and promptly reports changes in parameters monitoring cardiac rhythms 3.Ensure timely and accurate communication of patient information with all members of the health care team 4.Arrhythmias-maintain strips and reporting changes 5.Documents clearly and accurately 6.Performs clerical duties efficiently and accurately (See Unit Secretary Job Description) 7.Prioritize and assist with unit activities based on patient needs under the direction of the RN 8.Demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills 9.Aware of Watson Model of Care including key elements of Caring, Competence, Communication and commitment. 10.Participates in unit-based initiatives that promote patient safety and support customer service goals 11.Demonstrates safe and effective use or computers, scanners, tube system, central station monitoring system, and telemetry transmitters 12.Gives all customers their full attention and treats them with dignity, respect and understanding 13.Presents a clean, professional, well groomed image 14.Wears name badge where visible 15.Adheres to dress policy 16.Demonstrates sense of ownership, pays attention to details, and ensures all mandatory obligations are met. 17.Is proactive, anticipates and responds to patient/family/co-workers needs, and demonstrates an energetic and positive approach at work 18.Is sensitive to customer's physical, social, and cultural needs 19.Any other duties assigned by Clinical Unit SupervisorPOSITION REQUIREMENTS A. Education High School Diploma or G.E.D Equivalency preferred B. Qualifications/Experience A minimum of 1 year working as a Telemetry Monitor Technician. Internal candidates without the minimum experience that have completed required training will be considered at management's discretion. C. Special Skills/Knowledge Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Basic Computer skills
