The Pharmacy Manager cultivates a culture of excellence, demonstrates genuine care, and sets the bar for the Pharmacy team. Responsibilities Lead and develop a pharmacy team that provides exceptional patient care by promoting best practices and managing change. Support innovative program awareness, onboard new staff, and recognize colleagues for their success. Consistently exhibit best practices while working the bench: quarterbacking the team, providing patients with meaningful counseling, and abiding by all legal and regulatory guidelines. Manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices. Oversee the pharmacy team during bench shifts, strengthening performance through coaching and regular follow‑up. Ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following and directing the pharmacy team to follow workflow procedures, utilizing safety guardrails at every workstation. Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, collaborating with the patient’s healthcare team, and proactively resolving insurance and medication issues. Proactively offer and deliver immunizations, identify, engage, and support Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize. Manage pharmacy inventory by following and coaching the team on best practices, with a special focus on protecting cold chain products. Conduct onboarding for new Technicians and Pharmacists, ensuring timely completion of required training and licensure. Ensure pharmacy operations are compliant with state Board of Pharmacy regulations at all times, escalating issues to the Rx DL as needed. Partner with the Store Manager to maintain a healthy talent pipeline of cross‑trained colleagues willing to work in the pharmacy. Oversee Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists (DPSs), managing performance through observation, feedback, and validation of results; deliver annual performance reviews. Maintain flexibility for scheduling and business needs while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic. Develop action plans to close workflow, service, patient care, and compliance gaps based on operational insights. Establish a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion so the pharmacy team feels valued and psychologically safe. Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills through required training and continuing medical education. Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services when permitted. Comply with all federal, state, and professional laws, regulations, and CVS Health policies to ensure patient safety and a safe workplace. Physical Demands Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods; lift, scan, and bag items. Reach overhead, stretch, or reach out to grasp items; move fingers repetitively. Use hand/arm movements to pick, pinching, typing, or otherwise work primarily with fingers. Extend hand(s) and arm(s) to place, move, or lift items; maintain precision on machines. Stoop and bend at the waist to move items between low and high positions. Perform activities requiring close visual acuity. Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.; frequently lift up to 10 lbs.; consistently lift negligible force to move objects. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. 1–2 years of experience as a Pharmacist. Essential Functions Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe. Strong focus and the ability to concentrate on tasks over time and pivot quickly between tasks. Confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety. Actively look for ways to help people through friendly customer service and team orientation. Use verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues; practice active listening. Use math to solve dispensing problems such as determining total tablets, day’s supply, and bottle counts. Identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action in multiple scenarios. Physical capabilities as outlined in the Physical Demands section. Lead by example, delegate tasks, empower team members, and foster a collaborative environment. Motivate and inspire team members to adhere to standards and achieve high performance. Apply problem‑solving skills to address challenges and find innovative solutions. Adapt to changing circumstances and take ownership; coach and provide feedback, discipline, or terminate team members as needed. Perform any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager. Preferred Qualifications Completion of the CVS Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PM‑EL) program. 3–5 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
