Mid-Valley Disposal is seeking an experienced Route Supervisor to oversee daily collection operations and lead a team of drivers and helpers. This role is ideal for a proven field leader who brings strong operational judgment, critical thinking skills, and the ability to confidently articulate decisions in a fast-paced environment.

As a Route Supervisor, you will be accountable for safety performance, service reliability, route efficiency, and team development. This is not just a dispatch role — it is a frontline leadership position with direct impact on operational results.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Oversight
  • Direct and supervise daily route operations to ensure safe, compliant, and on-time service delivery.
  • Monitor route productivity, service metrics, and labor utilization.
  • Analyze operational challenges and implement practical solutions in real time.
  • Identify opportunities to improve routing efficiency and reduce downtime.
Leadership & Accountability
  • Lead, coach, and hold drivers and helpers accountable to performance standards.
  • Conduct ride-alongs, road evaluations, and performance discussions.
  • Address performance issues promptly and professionally.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, teamwork, and high standards.
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure full compliance with DOT, CHP, and company safety regulations.
  • Lead safety meetings and reinforce safe work practices.
  • Investigate incidents and develop corrective action plans.
  • Maintain proper documentation and reporting standards.
Communication & Decision-Making
  • Serve as the primary field contact for drivers throughout the day.
  • Resolve customer service issues professionally and decisively.
  • Collaborate with dispatch, maintenance, and customer service teams to maintain operational continuity.
  • Clearly articulate operational decisions and expectations to team members.
Talent Development
  • Support onboarding and training of new drivers.
  • Conduct road tests and skill assessments.
  • Develop team members for advancement opportunities.
QualificationsExperience
  • 3+ years of experience in transportation, fleet, logistics, or route-based operations.
  • Prior supervisory or management experience required. 
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing performance.
  • Waste, recycling, or fleet operations experience strongly preferred.
License
  • Valid Class A or B CDL required.
Core Competencies
  • Strong leadership presence and ability to influence and motivate teams.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and sound decision-making skills.
  • Ability to assess operational risk and act decisively.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills; able to articulate direction and feedback clearly.
  • Working knowledge of DOT and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and workforce management systems (ADP experience a plus).
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Field-based role with significant outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
  • Frequent walking, standing, and active engagement with drivers and equipment.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive salary: $72,000 – $76,000 annually
