Job Summary and Qualifications The Radiation Therapist (RT(T)) performs direct patient care within the scope of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Utilizes therapeutic communication in daily practice. Maintains a safe therapeutic environment, identifies nursing problems related to individual patient needs, plans individualized patient care utilizing an interdisciplinary approach, participates in performance improvement activities, and coordinates care that supports the hospital’s mission and vision. Responsibilities Assess patient status and reaction to treatment daily and communicate concerns appropriately. Follow proper procedure for treatment field verification and approval. Fabricate custom treatment devices following established protocols. Educate patients about radiation therapy treatment procedures. Set up and deliver patient treatments accurately according to prescription and plan. Operate linear accelerators, simulators, CT scanners, and related equipment safely and effectively. Qualifications Graduate from an accredited school in the instruction of radiation therapy (AS or BS degree). Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy RT(T), ARRT. BLS certification obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
