HVAC Counter Sales I

Job Title Counter Sales 1 • Full Time/Non-Exempt • Location: Lakewood, NJ • Reports To: Branch Manager General Summary Counter Sales position that includes answering telephone calls, locating items, servicing customers, using a computer to generate invoices, loading items in customers’ vehicles, and delivering products to customer locations. Uses all available resources to locate products, maintains self‑service area, and creates and maintains branch displays. Good interpersonal skills are necessary to service customers in the branch, on the telephone, or at the delivery site. Pre‑employment screening is required. Responsibilities Process customer orders, maintain communication with customers, and provide all necessary updates in a timely manner. Complete customer sales by means of data entry, product verification, and payment collection. Provide expert‑level customer service through effective communication efforts in person and by telephone. Perform warehouse duties including shipping and receiving, order processing, delivery, and inventory. Handle difficult situations with diplomacy and tact. Work productively with a wide range of people as a team player. Recommend alternate products based on cost, availability, or specifications. Build and maintain professional relationships with customers. Multi‑task to complete all responsibilities and duties in a timely and productive manner. Preferred Qualifications Basic understanding of Heating and Cooling systems (matrix). Knowledge of basic math skills. Ability to read invoices, catalogs, stock numbers, and descriptions to accurately identify items. Heavy lifting experience. Knowledge of material handling equipment to safely move products weighing more than 70 pounds. Valid driver’s license, safe driving record; ability to operate manual transmission, if applicable. Work Environment Fast‑paced environment with frequent interruptions. Requires frequent bending, climbing, movement, and lifting during physical loading/unloading of trucks and when stocking products. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat. The work schedule is typically Monday through Friday and some Saturdays (half day). This is a safety‑sensitive position. Requirements Candidate must be at least 18 years old to operate a forklift. Successful completion of pre‑employment screenings is required. EEO Statement R.E.
