Job TitleInstalls, tests, troubleshoots, replaces, and maintains electrical and electronic systems and their components in a water or wastewater treatment plans, and at all distribution and collection facilities, including wellfields, lift stations, tanks, and storm stations. The omission of a function does not preclude management from assigning essential duties not listed herein if such duties relate to the position.Troubleshoot and replace 480 Volt MotorsInstalls and repairs electrical systems and devices including controls and motor startersTests electrical systems and equipment; detects causes of electrical failures and malfunctions; replaces and/or repairs componentsEnsures compliance of electrical systems and equipment with applicable codesReviews electrical projects for upgrades; reads and prepares electrical diagramsMaintains inventory and orders materials or servicesMaintains records of work performedAssists in preparing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)Uses and knowledgeable of digital tools and asset management systemsEnsures compliance with safety regulations, standard operating procedures, and applicable electrical codesWorks around medium voltage, rotating equipment and various hazardous chemicalsCalculates line loading leads to determine wire and equipment size and capacityPrepares sketches for electrical layouts and installationRead and interpret specifications, schematics, blueprints and diagramsMay be required to perform "stand-by duty", being available and responding to off-duty emergency call-ins to effect repairs to malfunctioning electrical, electronic and/or instrument systemsPerforms related work as requiredJob Requirements, Preferences & Work EnvironmentMinimum Job Requirements:High School Diploma or an acceptable G.E.D. certificate or equivalency supplemented by a vocational / technical certification in electric work.Minimum of four (4) years of experience at the journeyman level (4160 volt motor and switchgear experience preferred).Journeyman Electrician Certificate of Competency issued by the Broward County Central Examining Board.Possess or be able to obtain a valid State of Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire.Completion of coursework at an accredited college or university in a job-related field, may substitute on a year-for-year basis for up to two (2) years of the required experience.To claim Veterans' Preference, candidates must attach to the application a copy of military separation papers (DD214) and service-connected disability documentation (if applicable) to meet eligibility requirements as stipulated by Florida Statues. Physical standards required to perform essential job functions: The position involves heavy physical demands, such as exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Ability to lift, stoop, bend, crawl, kneel and climb ladders up to 30 feet in performing a variety of job-related tasks. Ability to work out of bucket truck and work at moderate heights using ladder or scaffold. This position will be exposed to medium voltage (4,160 volts, 480 volts, etc.), will work around chemicals (chlorine, hydrogen peroxide, etc.), exposed to hydrogen sulfide as well as noisy areas and rotating equipment.
