Environmental Services Technician (Housekeeper)

Position: Environmental Services Technician (Housekeeper) Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 am - Noon (20 hours/week) Job Location: Plymouth, NC Department: Vernon G James Research And Extension Center Responsibilities Clean and sanitize designated areas according to established schedules and safety protocols to ensure a hygienic environment. Operate and maintain housekeeping equipment, including vacuums, mops, and scrubbers. Perform window washing and other seasonal cleaning tasks as needed. Maintain cleaning supplies inventory and request replenishment when needed. Assist with setting up designated spaces for meetings or events. Perform minor maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs and paint touch‑ups; report damages or major maintenance needs. Provide outstanding customer service, remaining professional and respectful. Lift a minimum of 60 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations. Respond flexibly to the needs of faculty, staff, and public; coordinate communication with team and supervisor. Minimum Experience & Education Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Special certification may be required for some positions. Preferred Qualifications Experience performing housekeeping duties in a commercial environment. Experience using standard housekeeping equipment such as vacuums and buffers. Ability to stand for long periods, walk, bend, twist, pull, and push. Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions. Special certification may be required for some positions. Required License or Certification Valid North Carolina Driver’s License required (must be maintained throughout employment). Additional commercial driver’s license not required.
