Job Summary

Ultrasonographer Echo. The position performs diagnostic echocardiograms for adult and pediatric patients in a high-volume healthcare setting, with an expectation of completing up to nine studies per shift. The role supports technically proficient cardiac imaging, patient care, equipment quality control, and collaboration with cardiology and related departments.

Job Details

• Required Qualifications: A.R.D.M.S. or CCI registration, registry eligibility, or comparable national accreditation; State of New Mexico Echo Sonographer License; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued through American Heart Association (AHA); high school diploma or equivalent; completion of a two-year allied health education program related to patient care; effective communication, strong organizational skills, collaborative work style, ability to work at a rapid pace under stressful conditions, and manual dexterity to perform echocardiograms.
• Preferred Qualifications: Two years of active echocardiography experience; allied health background such as diagnostic medical sonography, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, or registered nursing.
• Schedule: Day shift, 7:00 AM5:30 PM, four 10-hour shifts per week, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Additional Information: Performs technically proficient two-dimensional, M-mode, and Doppler cardiac examinations; assists cardiologists with exam preparation and measurements; responds to patient needs and reports changes in patient condition to the appropriate clinician; maintains clean, organized, and properly supplied examination rooms; documents patients and examinations; participates in departmental and interdepartmental performance improvement activities; shares on-call coverage for emergency echocardiograms; maintains equipment and examination quality; coordinates equipment repairs; stays current with advances in echocardiography; and assists with other cardiac procedures as needed.
