About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1.5 years of Medical Surgical or PCU experience License: Valid RN License Certifications: BLS and NIH required Must-Have: Strong post-surgical competencies required Telemetry remote monitoring experience Colostomy care and feeding tube management Pre/Post Hemodialysis management Blood product administration and line care Description: Must be available for the first two weeks of the assignment. No holiday requests; dates may be discussed with management to determine unit accommodation. No call requirement. Weekend requirement is every other weekend. Holidays may be required as needed. Will float to other Medical Surgical units, ICU, and ED as needed. Must be comfortable with patient ratios, which may flex from 1:6 to additional support staff on site. Responsibilities include managing surgical drains, chest tubes, and high flow nasal cannula. Oral suctioning and oxygen administration are part of the role. Tracheostomy management and isolation precautions are also required. Wound care, including wound vac management, is expected. Additional competencies may include peripheral and PICC line management, starting IVs, and administering medications such as heparin and insulin. Candidates must be adaptable to varying patient demographics and needs. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. The unit typically cares for adult and geriatric patients with various diagnoses, including elective joint replacements and medical/surgical overflow.
