Human Resources Specialist - HOLT Truck Centers

The Human Resources Specialist supports key HR functions, including employee relations, onboarding, benefits administration, recruiting coordination, and leave of absence processes. This role provides day-to-day HR support to employees and managers, ensures accurate processing of HR activities, and assists with maintaining compliance with employment laws and company policies. The incumbent is expected to model the following practices daily: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development. Essential Functions Model, promote, reinforce, and reward the consistent use of HOLT's Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission Work safely always and adhere to all applicable safety policies; comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards Perform other duties as assigned Employee Relations Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries related to HR policies, procedures, and programs Support managers with performance management processes and documentation, including disciplinary actions and coaching conversations Ensure accurate and timely documentation of employee‐related matters Escalate complex employee relations issues, investigations, and sensitive situations to HR leadership as appropriate Support employee engagement initiatives and activities Benefits Administration Assist employees with general benefit‑related questions and escalates more complex issues Support open enrollment activities, including employee communication and system updates Maintain accurate benefit records and assist with compliance tracking/processes Recruiting & Onboarding Manage recruiting efforts, including job postings, sourcing, screening, and interview coordination Partner with hiring managers to support the selection process for positions Coordinate and facilitate onboarding activities to ensure a smooth new hire experience Maintain applicant tracking system data and recruitment records Leave of Absence Coordinate administrative aspects of leave processes (FMLA, ADA, etc.) Provide general guidance to employees on leave procedures and timelines Maintain records and ensure documentation is complete and compliant Training & Development Assist with scheduling and tracking employee training programs Support learning initiatives and development activities Maintain training records and reporting Compliance & Administration Maintain employee records and ensure data accuracy in HR systems Assist with policy updates and HR communications Support audits and compliance‑related activities Stay informed of employment law requirements and escalates concerns as needed Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Working knowledge of HR practices and employment laws Strong organizational and administrative skills Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to handle confidential information appropriately Detail‑oriented with strong follow‑through Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities Ability to escalated issues appropriately rather than independently resolve complex matters Requirements Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree or HR certification preferred Minimum Experience: Minimum of 2 years of HR, administrative, or related experience required; 3 or more preferred Bilingual (Spanish): Preferred Supervisory Responsibilities: None Travel: Up to 25% travel required; ability to travel frequently to and from meetings or other business‑related events both inter‑state and out of state; valid Driver's License required Physical Requirements: This position involves extended periods in a stationary position; additionally, occasional movement inside the office to access office machinery, file cabinets, etc.; This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets; This position frequently communicates with employees, legal counsel, vendors, government agencies, and stakeholders; Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations Work Environment: This job is generally performed in a professional office; in environmentally controlled conditions, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion; Frequently works at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions Disclaimer: Please note that the above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification.
