Store Team Leader - Retail Operations - Skokie, IL

Position Summary Store Team Leader – Retail Operations located in Skokie, IL. This role drives business results, directs team talent, and supports the store leadership team to deliver the L.L.Bean customer experience in an outdoor lifestyle concept retail store. Responsibilities Operations: maintain clean, organized stock room, manage inbound freight within 24 hours, replenish sales floor stock, handle returns per SOP, execute store-to-store/store-to-warehouse transfers, process omni‑channel business (FES orders, phone call management, RIOs) and adhere to loss prevention policies. Safety: model safe behaviors, evaluate risk, act as safety liaison, maintain compliance in back‑of‑house and sales floor spaces. Customer Experience: foster a service‑first environment, convert customers, lead sales during duty releases, analyze business reports (Qualtrics, variance reporting, merch sales) to identify opportunities, implement recognition programs and sales activations, manage fitting room service and size audits. Training & Development: support and train associates, deliver GUIDE training to new hires and ongoing training, maintain employee communication, develop and execute product training modules, model inclusive hiring practices and create respectful team environment. Total Store Accountability: support financial measures, act as key holder, prepare daily task responsibilities, recommend staffing adjustments, address employee issues within policy, contribute to peak planning and readiness, manage expense usage, oversee cash office and service hub, ensure cashier execution and efficiency. Health & Safety: follow all safety policies, report unsafe conditions, and work safely. Qualifications Associate degree or equivalent; 2+ years retail experience in a relevant retailer. Excellent organizational and time‑management skills. Proficiency with POS, Microsoft Word, Excel and comfort using social media platforms. Strong leadership skills with ability to inspire, motivate, and maintain high enthusiasm and a positive attitude. Demonstrated ability to foster an inclusive work environment and collaborate across diverse backgrounds. Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication. Flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays. Mobility and willingness to relocate a plus. Compensation & Benefits $20.20 to $25.25 hourly, based on experience, qualifications, and performance.
