Job Title: Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit
Location: Rochester, NY
Type: Contract
Shift & Schedule: Night Shift | 4 x 12-Hour Shifts | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Every Other Weekend
Pay Rate: $48.00 – $53.00 per hour (Local & Traveler) (Based on Experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high-quality care for patients in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU). The ideal candidate will have strong telemetry and step-down experience while delivering safe, compassionate, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, and provide nursing care for PCU/IMCU patients requiring continuous telemetry and pulse oximetry monitoring.

• Administer medications, IV therapies, and titratable infusions according to physician orders and nursing standards.

• Monitor and respond to cardiac dysrhythmias, respiratory changes, and other acute patient conditions.

• Care for patients with arterial lines, central lines, BiPAP, and other advanced monitoring and support needs.

• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.

• Maintain accurate documentation using the EPIC electronic medical record system.

• Float as required and safely manage a 1:5–1:7 patient ratio in a Med Surg setting.

Required Qualifications

• Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license.

• Minimum of 1 year of PCU, IMCU, Step-Down, or relevant acute care nursing experience .

• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications.

• Experience using the EPIC electronic medical record system.

• Ability to interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias.

• Experience with peripheral IV management, phlebotomy, oxygen therapy, non-invasive airway management, and isolation precautions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) experience.

• Previous travel nursing experience.

• Strong telemetry and emergency response skills.
