Registered Nurse – Cardiac Progressive Care / Telemetry

Schedule / Job Type

Contract (13 Weeks) | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every other weekend and every other holiday required | Expected 48 hours/week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 44-bed intermediate cardiac stepdown unit with a typical 1:4 patient ratio in a fast-paced, high-turnover environment
• Manage a diverse cardiac patient population including post-op CABG/valve, thoracotomy, vascular, arrhythmia, CHF, post-procedure cath, pacer, defibrillation, ablations, and acute chest pain/MI
• Administer and monitor vasoactive and cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitroglycerin
• Float to all inpatient units as needed based on census demands
• Pass an EKG competency test during the first week of hire
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health records

Required Qualifications

• Active Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA or ARC accepted)
• Minimum 1 year of strong cardiac experience in a Cardiac SDU, Intermediate Cardiac, or Cardiac ICU setting
• Minimum 2 years of IMC/PCU/Telemetry experience
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitroglycerin drips — candidates without this experience cannot advance in the interview process
• At least one prior travel nursing assignment must have been completed
• Minimum 1 year of recent EPIC charting experience

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for med/surg overflow patients including detox, DKA, COPD exacerbation, respiratory failure, and Fem-Pop bypass
• Ability to work independently, manage tasks efficiently, and adapt well to a high-acuity, rapidly changing environment
• Strong interpersonal skills and resilience in a fast-paced clinical setting
