Trial Preparation Assistant | City of New York The Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) is the largest police oversight agency in the United States, charged with investigating, mediating, and prosecuting public complaints against New York City police officers. This role is with the City of New York, located in New York, NY. As a Trial Preparation Assistant within the Administrative Prosecution Unit, you will directly support attorneys in prosecuting cases where the CCRB Board has substantiated complaints, contributing to the vital mission of ensuring accountability and public trust in law enforcement. Your work is crucial in maintaining the day‑to‑day operations of the unit responsible for bringing charges against subject officers. Location: In‑person, New York, NY • Pay: $58,778–$67,595 yearly • Team: Administrative Prosecution Unit; reports to the Chief Prosecutor, Deputy Chief Prosecutor, and Supervising Trial Preparation Assistant. Responsibilities Trial Assistance: Assist attorneys across all stages of trials, including attending disciplinary trials and hearings as needed. Document Management: Compile, analyze, prepare, and redact electronic and paper discovery; order and proofread transcripts for accuracy. Logistics and Coordination: Coordinate trial set‑up and logistics, gather evidence, order outstanding paperwork, and maintain communication with the Police Department. Communication and Liaising: Act as a liaison among internal departments and outside agencies, communicate with and assist in preparing witnesses, and handle all incoming mail for the APU staff. Administrative Support: Prepare and file court documents, manage attorney calendars, obtain officer disciplinary information, assist attorneys with fieldwork, and prepare trial exhibits and binders. Qualifications Background: A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university. Experience: Foundational knowledge acquired through a baccalaureate degree, supporting early career development in legal administration. Skills: Strong inter‑personal and organizational skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; personal character, integrity, judgment, and maturity.
