Position Summary As an Acute Clinical Staff Pharmacist at Banner Payson Medical Center, you will have patient care responsibilities, pharmacokinetics, renal dosing, and other clinical practices. IV compounding, including chemotherapy, and supervising pharmacy technicians when on duty. You will spend 2 days in an outpatient clinic setting collaborating with providers and nursing, teaching patients, and assisting with new orders. Varied work schedule, generally days. This involves being on call, weekends and holiday rotations. You will split time between the outpatient clinic and hospital setting. The Pharmacy is staffed from 6:30 AM – 5:30 PM Monday – Friday and 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM on weekends and holidays. A Pharmacist is on‑call after hours for emergent needs. $20,000 Hire On Incentive available and relocation. Core Functions Processes medication orders and evaluates their appropriateness and completeness with respect to patient data including age, height, weight, diagnosis, laboratory values, and other pertinent patient information. Utilizes clinical pharmacy skills to assess patient medication regimens and formulates recommendations to ensure optimal safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness for all prescribed medication therapies. Contacts the prescriber with suggestions for improvement and resolves problems with medication orders as needed. Serves as a resource for patients and the health care team. Provides requested medication information in a timely manner. Complies with directives of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee/Clinical Consensus Group. Documents activities related to patient care in the electronic medical record and other electronic databases as applicable (e.g. pharmacist to pharmacist/provider communication, adverse drug event reporting, and clinical interventions). Drives professional development through the utilization of BPS educational resources to achieve competence in the current and future BH acute pharmacy core clinical practices and activities. Additionally, assists with training and onboarding of new staff as applicable. Prepares and dispenses medications, including sterile or non‑sterile compounded medications, in an accurate and timely manner in compliance with company policies and procedures and established regulatory requirements. Coordinates medication preparation and distribution and ensures accuracy prior to dispensing medications. Oversees the day‑to‑day operations of the pharmacy, which may include management of technology, inventory management, and accurate record‑keeping. Supervises and directs the work of pharmacy technicians, interns, and students. Minimum Qualifications Unrestricted Pharmacist licensure in the state of practice and a degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy. For Arizona: Provide the AZ Board of Pharmacy Wallet Card at time of hire. If not licensed in the state of practice, must complete the Board of Pharmacy application process within 30 days of job offer and be licensed within 90 days of hire unless delayed by the State Board of Pharmacy. Banner Registry and Travel positions require a current and unrestricted Pharmacist license (not intern) at the time of hire and a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting, including work in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a pharmacist in the specialty area. Good organizational, problem‑solving, and computer skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interfacing with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, and other contacts. Knowledge of medication management information system software, Microsoft applications, and automated dispensing system. Employees at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire. Preferred Qualifications Completion of an accredited pharmacy residency program or previous clinical pharmacy experience.
