Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) | 12-Hour Shifts | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 37-bed Medical Surgical unit managing a patient ratio of 1:4–6 on day shift
• Care for patients with diagnoses including COPD, Sepsis, CVA, COVID, Pneumonia, and post-surgical conditions such as hip/knee procedures, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, and bowel resections
• Monitor and respond to telemetry events as communicated by central monitor technicians; manage patients on Lasix and Heparin drips
• Care for patients requiring BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen therapy (no ventilator patients on unit)
• Collaborate with hospitalists, APNs, eHospitalists, Respiratory Therapy (available 24/7), and pharmacy support to coordinate patient care
• Float to other units as needed based on competency, assuming a full patient assignment when floating

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license or confirmed application in process
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Ability to pass a drug screen; must comply with a drug-free workplace policy
• Proficiency or ability to quickly learn Epic EMR
• Willingness to work every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and holidays as scheduled

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a Medical Surgical setting with familiarity managing telemetry patients
• Experience with common Med-Surg drips including Heparin and Lasix
• Familiarity with BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen patient management
