ABOUT THE POSITION
The County of Riverside's Radiology Department at Riverside University Health System's Medical Center is seeking an Assistant Director of Diagnostic Imaging to join our team in Moreno Valley.
The Assistant Director of Diagnostic Imaging will oversee the daily operations and management of all non-physician functions within the Diagnostic Imaging Department, including staffing oversight, workflow management, regulatory compliance, and coordination with staff radiologists to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of imaging services. This role directs operations across all imaging service areas and is responsible for staffing, scheduling, and performance management, ensuring compliance with Joint Commission, CDPH, CMS, and other regulatory requirements, coordinating services with radiologists, medical staff, and hospital departments, overseeing ACR accreditation processes, maintaining departmental policies, procedures, and records, managing budgets and expenditures, overseeing contracts and purchasing, monitoring patient satisfaction, and ensuring staff training, competency, and professional development across all imaging modalities and clerical functions.
This class has been deemed eligible for the Performance Recognition Plan as set forth under Article 3, Section 311 of the County Management Resolution. EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Hire, manage and train employees in each service area to include X-ray/fluoroscopy, MRI, Mammography, CT, Interventional Radiology, Angiography, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, PACS, and clerical services.
• Direct and coordinate the operations of the RUHS Diagnostic Imaging Department; coordinate operations in conjunction with the designated physician chairperson to facilitate clinical services; coordinate services with medical staff and hospital divisions.
• Monitor hospital compliance with applicable regulatory requirements; keep current with new trends and procedures; prepare and ensure departmental compliance for various departmental surveys, including Joint Commission accreditation surveys, California Department of Public Health and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.• Review, coordinate and oversee ACR Accreditation and the renewal process for the Diagnostic Imaging Department.
• Develop and maintain policy and procedure manuals; establish and maintain appropriate records and statistics; prepare budget and annual reports.
• Maintain an effective working relationship with a variety of organizations, including medical, nursing and clinical staff throughout RUHS, County departments, other agencies, and private healthcare providers.
• Prepare cost estimates and justifications for budget recommendations; monitor and control expenditures to ensure the accomplishment of objectives within the approved budget.
• Oversee contract for services and supplies; coordinate purchasing functions; prepare reports and correspondence as necessary.
• Coordinate training of new staff, maintain staff competency and coordinate the training necessary to keep staff current with the latest technological advances.
• Monitor and share patient satisfaction feedback; work with staff and radiologists to address negative feedback to improve patient experience.
• Oversee staff performance; conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback; participate in the preparation and administration of disciplinary actions as warranted.
• Prepare, publish and oversee staff work schedules; monitor staff timecards and attendance for accuracy and ensure appropriate updates and corrections as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
OPTION I Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in radiology or a closely related field. Experience: Three years of supervisory experience in a full imaging department, including Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, CT, or Interventional Radiology/Angiography, or five years of progressive relevant experience with demonstrated success and leadership skills. OPTION II Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate's degree in radiology or a closely related field AND a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration or a closely related field. Experience: Three years of supervisory experience in a full imaging department, including Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, CT, or Interventional Radiology/Angiography, or five years of progressive relevant experience with demonstrated success and leadership skills. License: Possession of a valid California Driver's License. Possession of a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) is required. Current registration, certification and/or licensure in one of the following options:
• Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) as a Radiologic Technologist (Radiography) as well as possession of one of the following: a Mammographic Radiologic Technologist license; OR a Certified Technologist Nuclear Medicine (CTNM) license; OR a valid Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) license issued by the California Department of Public Health and a Fluoroscopy license.
• Certified with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) AND possession of a Certified Technologist Nuclear Medicine (CTNM) license issued by the California Department of Public Health.
• Registration with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS). MISCELLANEOUS RETIREMENT : County of Riverside has three retirement Tiers through the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS).
- Tier I (Classic Member - Formula 3% @ 60): Applicable to current and former County of Riverside local miscellaneous employees hired prior to 08/24/2012 and did not withdraw CalPERS contributions. The employee contribution is eight (8%) percent.
- Tier II (Classic Member - Formula 2% @ 60): Applicable to local miscellaneous employees 1) hired after 08/23/2012 through 12/31/2012; 2) Previously employed with another CalPERS contracting public agency or a reciprocal retirement system, with a break in service of less than six months between the separation date with the previous employer and the appointment date with the County of Riverside. The employee contribution is seven (7%) percent.
- Tier III (PEPRA New Member - Formula 2% @ 62): Applicable to CalPERS local miscellaneous new members hired on or after the implementation of the Public Employees' Pension Reform Act of 2013 (PEPRA) which took effect January 1, 2013. Effective July 1, 2023, the employee contributions are 7.25% and will increase to 7.75% effective July 1, 2024.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION: Voluntary employee contribution with a choice between two 457 deferred compensation plan options. 401(a) MONEY PURCHASE PLAN: County contribution of $50 per pay period towards choice between two 401(a) plan providers. 108 or more months = 12.00 Hours Maximum Annual Leave accumulation is 1,800 hours. Employee may receive pay in lieu of up to 80 hours per calendar year. Agency/Department Head may approve an additional 80 hours. -Annual Leave for Unrepresented Management Attorneys:
Maximum Annual Leave accumulation is 2,000 hours. Refer to Article 22 of the Management Resolution for a list of job classifications included. HOLIDAYS: Normally 12 paid holidays per year. BEREAVEMENT LEAVE: 5 days (3 days are County paid; 2 days can be taken through use of accrued leave balances). BASIC LIFE INSURANCE: $50,000 of term life coverage. Premiums are paid by the County. Additional Supplemental Life plan is available for employee purchase. LONG-TERM DISABILITY (LTD): Benefit pays 66.67% of earnings to a maximum of $10,000 per month; 30-day waiting period; pays to age 65. Benefit can be coordinated with other available leave balances to provide up to 100% of pay. POST RETIREMENT MEDICAL CONTRIBUTION: A monthly contribution is made by the County towards retiree health insurance offered through the County as governed by the Management Resolution or applicable bargaining unit. OTHER: There may be other benefit provisions as specified in the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, Management Resolution, or Salary Ordinance.
