Job Title: Machine Handler Job Description
The Machine Handler plays a key role in supporting production operations by safely handling materials, operating machinery, and preparing finished coils for packaging. This position requires careful attention to job tickets, effective coordination of materials, and consistent adherence to safety and housekeeping standards in a clean, temperature-controlled manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Read and clearly understand job tickets to ensure accurate setup and production.
- Load coils onto the uncoiler in a safe and efficient manner.
- Unload scrap material from the machine area and ensure proper disposal or staging.
- Unload cut materials from the uncoiler to the turnstile, maintaining organized material flow.
- Set up the overarm (excluding oscillators) according to job specifications and safety guidelines.
- Cut bands on coils and materials safely, following all safety procedures.
- Perform basic housekeeping tasks to keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Coordinate and stage all necessary materials required for each job to support continuous production.
- Prepare finished coils for packaging, ensuring they meet quality and specification requirements.
- Assist with general machine operation and production activities as needed.
- Handle materials throughout the production process, including loading, unloading, and moving product.
- Support warehouse and assembly tasks related to material handling and production flow.
- Use basic math skills to verify measurements, counts, and material specifications.
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes when trained and authorized.
- Troubleshoot minor mechanical or process issues and report more complex problems to appropriate personnel.
- Perform deburring and other finishing tasks to ensure product quality.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures while working with machinery, tools, and material handling equipment.
- Previous material handling experience in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Basic math skills to support measurements, counts, and production checks.
- Experience with general labor tasks in an industrial or production environment.
- Ability to read and understand job tickets and follow written instructions.
- Comfort working with and around machinery in a production setting.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow established processes and safety procedures.
- Experience as a machine operator or in machine operating roles.
- Background in general labor, warehouse operations, or assembly work.
- Experience with drill press operation or similar mechanical equipment.
- Troubleshooting skills for basic mechanical or process issues.
- Experience as a loader or in material handling roles.
- Forklift operation experience; certification is a plus where required.
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools and equipment.
- Overhead crane experience is a plus.
- Experience with braiding or similar production processes.
- Production and deburring experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in a material handling and machine operation role.

Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a clean, temperature-controlled production facility designed to support safe and efficient operations. You will work around metal processing equipment, including uncoilers, turnstiles, and material handling machinery such as forklifts and overhead cranes. The environment includes warehouse and manufacturing areas where materials like aluminum, copper, brass, and cold-rolled spring steel are processed and distributed. The facility layout supports organized material flow and emphasizes housekeeping, safety, and consistent production.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Valley City, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
