Job Title: Traveling Carpenters

Job Description

The Traveling Carpenters installs and assembles commercial doors, frames, insulated metal panels, and related metal trim at various project sites. This role requires frequent travel, strong technical skills in carpentry and metal work, and the ability to read and interpret construction documents while maintaining safe, OSHA-compliant work practices.

Responsibilities

• Install commercial doors, frames, and hardware according to specifications and project requirements.
• Install insulated metal panels (IMP) with attention to alignment, fit, and weatherproofing standards.
• Fabricate and install metal trim to ensure clean, precise finishes on structures and panels.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and layouts to plan and execute installation work.
• Perform accurate field layouts and measurements to ensure proper placement and fit of materials.
• Assist with panel installation and rigging, including safe handling and positioning of large components.
• Apply sealants and weatherproofing materials to ensure durable and watertight installations.
• Operate scissor lifts, boom lifts, aerial lifts, and forklifts in a safe and controlled manner.
• Use hand and power tools safely and efficiently to cut, fasten, and assemble materials.
• Maintain OSHA-compliant work practices at all times, including adherence to site safety rules and procedures.
• Travel to various job sites as needed and adapt to changing project requirements and schedules.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience installing commercial doors, frames, and hardware.
• Hands-on experience installing insulated metal panels (IMP).
• Ability to fabricate and install metal trim with precision.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, shop drawings, and layouts.
• Strong carpentry skills, including measuring, cutting, and assembling materials.
• Ability to perform accurate field layout and measurements.
• Experience safely operating scissor lifts, boom lifts, aerial lifts, and forklifts.
• Competence in the safe use of hand and power tools.
• Solid understanding of OSHA-compliant work practices and job-site safety.
• Willingness and ability to travel regularly to different job locations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Scissor lift or boom lift certifications are a plus.
• Experience in door and hardware installation is highly beneficial.
• Experience working with insulated metal panels (IMP) and metal frames.
• Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills in the field.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a crew on active construction sites.

Work Environment

This is a field-based, traveling role that involves working primarily on active commercial construction sites. You regularly work outdoors and at heights while installing doors, frames, insulated metal panels, and metal trim. The position requires frequent use of scissor lifts, boom lifts, aerial lifts, forklifts, and a variety of hand and power tools. Work schedules may vary based on project needs and location, and you can expect a physically active environment that requires standing, lifting, and working in different weather conditions while following all site-specific safety guidelines and OSHA standards. Appropriate job-site attire and personal protective equipment are required at all times.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fairfield, OH.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $32.00/hr.
