Senior CMF Designer
We are seeking a Senior CMF Designer to lead the development and execution of Colors, Materials, and Finishes for next-generation transportation and hardware products. This role will drive CMF strategy from concept through production, partnering closely with industrial design, engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to ensure high-quality, production-ready solutions.



Scope:
• Define and document CMF specifications, including color, material, and finish standards for product development and production.
• Collaborate closely with hardware and engineering teams to validate CMF technical requirements and source materials, samples, and components for evaluation.
• Troubleshoot material and finish issues in partnership with engineering and reliability teams to ensure durability and performance targets are met.
• Review production samples and provide feedback on color accuracy, texture, and surface finish quality.
• Lead CMF development from concept through manufacturing, coordinating with designers, engineers, suppliers, and external vendors.
• Research emerging color, material, and finish trends and support future product strategy through prototyping and validation testing.
• Support vendor engagement and manufacturing reviews as needed to maintain design intent through production.



Required:
• 7+ years of professional experience in CMF, product, automotive, textile, fashion, or interior design.
• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Fine Arts, or a related field. Material engineering experience is a plus.
• Strong technical understanding of the design-to-production process, including taking CMF concepts into mass production.
• Excellent visual, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly and incorporate feedback in fast-moving development environments.
• Ability to work onsite 3 days per week in Mountain View, CA.
• Willingness to travel to vendors and manufacturing sites as required.
• Farnsworth Munsell 100 Hue test score below 4.



Pluses:
• Experience with automotive color and trim design.
• Proficiency with visualization tools such as VRED and KeyShot.



Estimated Min Rate : $40.00

Estimated Max Rate : $50.00/hr. Depends on experience
