Position Summary
The Physician is responsible for providing comprehensive primary care services to patients while working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care and supporting Frontera's mission of improving rural healthcare access.
What You'll Do
Patient Care & Clinical Services
- Provide high-quality primary care services to patients of all ages.
- Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Develop individualized treatment plans and prescribe medications as appropriate.
- Refer patients to specialists and ancillary services when needed.
- Review and follow up on laboratory, imaging, and diagnostic test results in a timely manner.
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans, and preventive healthcare.
- Maintain accurate and complete medical documentation in accordance with organizational policies.
- Participate in scheduled clinic sessions, including occasional extended-hour clinics.
- Provide continuity of care for assigned patients and collaborate with other Physicians to ensure excellent patient outcomes.
Leadership & Team Collaboration
- Work closely with nurses, medical assistants, behavioral health providers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Serve as a mentor and resource for clinical staff and students.
- Support quality improvement initiatives, compliance activities, and risk management efforts.
- Participate in the development and review of clinical policies, protocols, and standing orders.
- Contribute to community health programs, wellness initiatives, and educational events.
- Promote a positive, collaborative, and patient-centered culture throughout the organization.
Professional Development
- Stay current on medical best practices, healthcare trends, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in ongoing education and professional development opportunities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Required Knowledge
- Strong understanding of health promotion, disease prevention, and patient motivation strategies.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and accepted medical abbreviations.
- Working knowledge of the Texas Medical Practice Act.
- Ability to quickly learn and apply Frontera Healthcare Network's clinical and operational protocols.
- Understanding patient-centered care principles and best practices.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Excellent clinical documentation skills with the ability to accurately and clearly record patient information.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with patients, families, colleagues, and community members.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Proficiency in using common office technology, including computers and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality patient care.
Education, Credentials & Experience Required
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Current, unrestricted Texas Physician License.
- Current DEA and DPS registrations, along with any certifications required to practice medicine in Texas.
- Compliance with continuing medical education (CME) requirements established by specialty boards and licensing authorities.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification for Healthcare Professionals.
- Hospital privileges at designated area hospitals, when required by specialty or location.
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) year or more of experience providing direct patient care as a practicing physician.
