The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality dental care to our patients, assisting the dentist during procedures, and ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow in the office. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, aseptic techniques, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Responsibilities Assist the dentist during various dental procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety. Prepare and maintain the treatment area, including sterilization of instruments and equipment. Take and develop X-rays as needed, adhering to safety protocols. Manage patient records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care. Support pediatric dentistry by creating a welcoming environment for young patients. Utilize four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures. Maintain inventory of dental supplies and assist with ordering as necessary. Stay updated on dental systems and technologies to improve patient care. Skills Proficiency in all dentistry procedures is preferred. Knowledge of endodontics procedures is a plus. Familiarity with dental terminology and HIPAA compliance is essential. Experience with X-ray technology and safety protocols. Strong understanding of aseptic techniques to prevent infection. Excellent communication skills for effective patient interaction. Ability to work collaboratively within a team setting while managing multiple tasks efficiently. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage patient records accurately. Spanish Speaking is a plus. Pay $17 - $22 per hour Salary Based On Qualifications and experience of the Dental Assistants. Certifications such as Nitrous, Sealants are a plus Shift & Schedule Monday to Friday Flexible schedule Work Hours: Monday-Friday 9-5 Weekend hours rotating Requirements License & Certification: Basic life support, Driver’s license, Registered dental assistant / Certified dental assistant, Expanded Functions Dental Assistant Temporary Crowns, Packing Cord, Suture Removal Preferences Certifications are a plus nitrous Oral Surgery another plus Job Description Prepare and restock treatment rooms and other clinical support areas as needed. Change all chemical solutions, disinfectant soaks and sprays, sterilants, ultrasonic, presoak and X-ray processing as needed. Review medical history, progress from the previous visit, if applicable, and the scheduled treatment plan with each patient. Expose and copy dental radiographs. Perform four-handed dental assisting procedures to including aspirating and retracting tissues. Records treatment rendered in the patient's chart and charge out all procedures. Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs. Provide postoperative instructions prescribed by dentist. Escort patient to the business area for follow-up and rescheduling. Decontaminate all treatment rooms and sterilizes instruments after each patient appointment. Maintain cleanliness of treatment rooms, dark room, lab and sterilizing area. Process equipment and facility repair requests as needed. Comply with and enforce all practice policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Comply with and enforce all OSHA policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, and reports incidents and/or violations as required. Comply with and enforce all HIPAA standards, and reports ethics and compliance violations as required. Comply with assigned work schedules and the practice's timekeeping policies. Answer incoming office/patient calls as needed. Other duties as assigned. Job Skills/ Qualifications Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills in the English language. Ability to read and comprehend patient medical history information, insurance explanations of benefits, computer screens and performance metrics. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have good or corrected vision as well as effective peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have good manual dexterity and be able to use repetitive motion of the hands and arms. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to one hour. Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office to perform administrative tasks. Must be able to constantly operate a computer and/or other office equipment such as a calculator, copy machine, or printer. Must be able to frequently and effectively communicate in both written and verbal form. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds and/or push/pull objects up to 100 pounds.
