This is a highly influential leadership role that combines clinical expertise, medical management, quality improvement, and strategic healthcare leadership. Working closely with executive leadership, you will help shape the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective care for millions of members across the United States. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving clinical excellence, supporting utilisation management programmes, improving healthcare outcomes, and influencing the future direction of medical management initiatives at a national level. This position is ideally suited to a Board-Certified physician with strong managed care experience who is passionate about improving healthcare quality, reducing unnecessary variation in care, and leading meaningful change across complex healthcare systems. Key responsibilities include: • Providing medical leadership across utilisation management, quality improvement, credentialing, and medical management functions • Reviewing complex, high-cost, controversial, and emerging treatment requests to determine medical necessity and appropriate care pathways • Supporting quality improvement initiatives designed to improve clinical outcomes and reduce healthcare costs • Collaborating with care management teams, providers, pharmacy consultants, and appeals teams to resolve complex clinical cases • Leading medical reviews relating to utilisation management, quality assurance, and healthcare service delivery • Supporting provider engagement and network development initiatives • Assisting with physician education programmes and clinical policy development • Identifying trends in healthcare utilisation, provider performance, and clinical quality to support continuous improvement initiatives • Representing the organisation with healthcare providers, professional committees, regulatory bodies, and industry stakeholders • Supporting strategic planning initiatives designed to improve member care and organisational performance Candidates should demonstrate: • MD or DO qualification with an active and unrestricted medical licence • Board Certification in a recognised medical specialty • Significant experience within managed care, medical management, utilisation review, or health plan environments • Strong understanding of quality improvement methodologies and healthcare performance metrics • Excellent clinical judgement and medical necessity review expertise • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills • Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary clinical teams and provider networks Board Certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine would be particularly advantageous, as would experience with quality accreditation standards, population health management, and healthcare operations.
