The Role The Directorate of Pharmacy provides medicines leadership across all sectors of NHS Lanarkshire. This includes medicines supply and logistics, pharmaceutical care, medicines governance and direct patient care in our communities, primary and secondary care. NHS Lanarkshire has three acute hospital sites serving a population of 655,000 across rural and urban communities. The purpose of this job plays a key role in the collection, analysis, presentation and interpretation of data to support the information needs of the Directorate of Pharmacy with a focus on the acute sector and pharmaceutical public health. As a member of the health intelligence team you will be expected to provide input into Directorate work in analysis and interpretation of data and its use to guide stakeholder’s decision making. You will provide highly developed skills for the compilation (collection, cleaning and managing data), analysis, presentation, and interpretation of a wide variety of complex data sets, using a range of packages. You will also support senior managers to provide advice on issues of data standards and quality as necessary. You will provide expert input into the development of reporting metrics ensuring they reflect the information needs of key stakeholders and adhere to information governance policies. Your role will be to provide key information support and analysis as requested across the Directorate. You will present complex and sometimes sensitive information to a range of audiences both within the Directorate and wider stakeholders. Assisting in the production of all activity information such as Information Requests. Please note this is a fixed term post for 24 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post. In This Key Role, You Will Assist the Directorate leadership in the overall management and performance of information functions. Lead in the design of developing user focused management reports. Production of accurate and timely regular and adhoc information. Lead the information requirements of work undertaken in the field of medicines utilisation, health inequalities research, epidemiology and surveys. Participate in providing a culture of learning within the Directorate, ensuring that staff are individually and collectively knowledgeable in relevant areas of NHS Lanarkshire’s business. Assist the Director of Pharmacy and senior leadership team in the development and implementation of the eHealth Strategy for NHS Lanarkshire in respect of the better use of information to support core and non-core activities. What You’ll Bring Degree with a high numerical and statistical content Skills gained through a mixture of internal and external formal training, e.g. graduate diploma qualification 5 years experience of Information Management in a Health Care environment with at least 2 years at a senior level Specialist knowledge of the organisation’s information requirements Highly developed IT and information analysis skills with an in-depth specialist knowledge and experience of application of NHS data definitions, information standards and policies is essential Effective and confident communication skills are required to present, advise and instruct analyses, procedures and standards to a senior audience.
