Maintenance Technician I

We are currently looking for a Full Time Maintenance Technician I to join our Museums and Libraries Historic Sites Section 1 team located at the Fort Washita working 8:00AM-5:00PM - Mo Tu We Th Fr.

Summary:

Responsible for the maintenance, preservation and general care of Fort Washita and surrounding acreage to achieve a pleasant, safe, and functional outdoor environment. Includes managing employees, assisting patrons, monitoring activities, and maintaining cleanliness, and protect the historic significance of the site.

Responsibilities:
* Provides first class customer service to both internal and external customers and responds to inquiries, compliments, and/or complaints with professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency
* Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities
* Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all types
- Maintains a clean, organized work area and ensures a safe environment
- Maintains and promotes professionalism
- Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics

* Maintains knowledge of and follows all rules, regulations, policies and guidelines for assigned area
* Keeps equipment operational, systems and building ready for use
- Keeps preventative maintenance schedules
- Keeps maintenance records, following policy and procedures
- Completes repairs and installs replacement parts
- Reports needed changes
* Maintains equipment/machinery, systems and building by completing preventive maintenance schedules
* Completes and maintains monthly maintenance records
* Conducts minor preventative maintenance, when possible, and report additional needed repairs to line of support
* Maintains building accessibility by removing ice and snow from walkways and parking lot
* Maintain fire protection and alarm systems devices
* Identifies and corrects hazardous working conditions
* Maintains building climate by trouble-shooting heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment
* Hauls file and boxes, moves furniture, sets up furnishings, prepare rooms for meetings, assemble public announcement and audio-visual equipment following manufacturer's operating and care guidelines, and repairs and installs replacement parts to assure equipment is in working order when needed
* Manages and orders office inventory, equipment, uniforms and/or other operational supplies
* Assist with housing inspections
* Assist with guest accommodations and provide corrective action if needed
* Oversees contract work
* Reports all needs, incidents, and emergencies to appropriate personnel
* Inspects the Fort to make sure everything is maintained and makes notes or recommendations for improvements, including but not limited to checking buildings, picnic areas, roads, trails and fences.
* Assist and maintain the public, Confederate, Native, and the unknown Swedish family cemetery
* Assist setting up events, include but not limited to, Rendezvous, movie nights, ghost stories, Civil War, candlelight tour, American celebration, and Christmas at the Fort.
* Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, removing debris, trimming Mix, spray or spread fertilizer onto grass, shrubs, and trees, using hand or automatic sprayers/spreaders
* Plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees and shrubs and apply mulch for protection, using gardening tools as needed. Haul or spread topsoil.
* Shovel snow/ice from walks, driveways, parking lots and spread salt in needed areas.
* Operates, properly maintain and repair landscaping tools and power equipment, such as tractors, hand implements, chainsaws, lawn care devices etc. and stored properly in shop and closets.
* Maintain logs of equipment repair, inventory vehicle usage, repairs and fuel logs.
* Conducts periodic rounds of facility/Fort to check for security of structures, contents, and public safety.
* Represents the facility in dealings with visitors, local historical society, chamber of commerce, schools and other members of the public.
* Performs all other duties as assigned
