Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Clinical Resource Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Illinois Nursing License Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: - Ability to float to multiple units and provide care to diverse patient populations. - Ability to manage care for both acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients. - Ability to develop, implement, and modify patient care plans. - Skill in medication administration and evaluating medication effects. - Skill in preparing patients for procedures and managing post-operative care. - Skill in IV venipuncture and blood administration. - Ability to document care accurately using EMR. - Ability to educate patients and families on care plans and discharge instructions. - Ability to provide constructive feedback and assist in professional development of peers. - Ability to handle conflict management and maintain professional communication with team members. - Skill in critical thinking to assess patient status and take appropriate action. - Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members. - Ability to prioritize patient safety and adhere to all safety standards including fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, and ambulation safety. - Ability to complete patient bedside shift reports, hourly rounding, and maintain updated patient communication boards. - Ability to delegate appropriately and follow up on delegated tasks. Responsibilities include performing all duties specific to the scope of service. You will maintain up-to-date documentation of nursing care provided. This role involves completing initial assessments upon patient admission. You will develop appropriate plans of care in accordance with unit standards. Responsibilities include implementing plans of care and nursing interventions. Continuous evaluation will require plan modifications as necessary. Patient and employee safety must be prioritized by reporting safety hazards. Communication with colleagues will assist in resolving issues constructively. You will confer with colleagues to expand your knowledge base. Identifying your own learning needs and initiating appropriate solutions is essential. All requirements of departmental competencies must be fulfilled. Floating to various inpatient units including Medical-Oncology and Surgical-Orthopedic is expected. Direct nursing care will be provided while collaborating with multidisciplinary team members. You will conduct and document assessments, nursing diagnoses, and evaluate patient care. Acting as a resource to staff from various units is part of the role. Coordination of care with multidisciplinary team members is necessary. Managing care for acute and chronically ill patients will be expected. You will collaboratively identify patient goals and maintain care plans. Interventions will include medication administration and evaluation of effects. You will prepare patients for procedures, manage pain, and perform IV venipuncture. Discharging patients and providing instruction for safe transitions will be part of your duties. All care will be documented using EMR. Attending team huddles and ensuring their occurrence is required. You must ensure that basic care tasks are completed per standards. Conflicts must be managed professionally and communication should remain clear. Post-operative care for complex surgical populations will be provided.
