Senior Software Engineer, Integrated Vehicle Simulator (Santa Cruz)

Overview

Joby Aviation is seeking a driven engineer with C++ development skills and experience, an ability to understand complex problems and create reliable, repeatable solutions. This engineer will play a key role in a small, fast-moving team. They will participate in architecture, design, and implementation of solutions that support and expand our integrated vehicle simulators. They will work with software and hardware engineers across the company to help them test and improve their solutions.

Responsibilities

Help maintain and improve solutions that combine simulated and hardware environments to test the behavior of on-vehicle software as if it were on the vehicleArchitect, design, and develop improvements and extensions for simulation softwareEnhance the simulations to more accurately reflect the behavior in actual vehicles of the software being testedEnhance the performance and reliability of the simulation’s solutionsAdapt simulations to new vehicle designsProvide support and consulting to users of the simulation across the organization that depend on the simulators for their daily work

Required

University degree in computer science or computer engineering and 7+ years’ industry experience. An advanced degree and 5+ years’ experience will also be consideredSignificant experience with and demonstrable expertise in OOP C++ Understanding of Continuous Integration, Continuous Development (CI/CD) and DevOps toolsFamiliarity with Linux OS and command-line toolsWillingness to be flexible and learn new technologies

Understanding of aircraft and aviation (or development in a regulatory environment)Network experience (VLANs, UDP, Wireshark, etc)Experience working with the Linux schedulerExperience developing software using Python

Additional Information

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $180,500.00 - 219,900/yr.
