Phlebotomist

Job Description Southeastern Virginia Health System is seeking to fill a phlebotomy position in our Suffolk office. Phlebotomist will draw blood for tests as ordered by the physicians. This is a full-time position - Monday to Thursdays 8am to 5:30 p.m. and Fridays 8am to 12pm. Offer a competitive hourly rate based upon experience. Responsibilities: Collect and store blood samples from patients - pediatrics and adults Performs assigned lab tests as stated in procedures which includes the following In House labs: Hemoglobin, Urine Dip, Urine HcG, Strep A, Rapid HIV, Glucometer, Hemoglobin A1C. Documents all results of in-house labs in the electronic medical records system Process lab specimens to be sent to outside reference labs Reconcile all lab reports on a daily basis Performs quarterly proficiency testing; maintains proper documentation, processing and reporting of testing. Reports abnormal results to providers in a timely fashion. Performs controls on all in-house tests; Keeps accurate parallel testing logs for In house tests. Monitor storage and inventory of supplies Maintain clean and healthy work environment Adhere to laboratory safety policies and procedures Assist in the recovery of patients with adverse reactions Qualifications: Previous experience in phlebotomy, nursing, or other related fields Ability to build rapport with patients Familiarity with medical software and equipment Strong organizational skills Ability to collect samples from all ages (both pediatrics and adults) Ability to work in a fast‑paced work environment #J-18808-Ljbffr
