School Board Secretary SAU 39
School Board Secretary SAU 39 is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented individual to serve as Recording Secretary for the Amherst, Mont Vernon, and Souhegan Cooperative School Board Meetings. The Recording Secretary is responsible for attending School Board meetings and preparing accurate, timely minutes that provide a clear record of Board discussions and actions.
Responsibilities:
- Attend regular and special School Board meetings, primarily held during evening hours.
- Record attendance, motions, votes, decisions, and key discussion points.
- Prepare clear and objective draft minutes following each meeting.
- Submit draft minutes within the established timeframe for review and approval.
- Revise minutes as necessary following Board approval.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive information.
- Ensure that minutes comply with applicable School Board policies and New Hampshire public-meeting requirements.
- Coordinate with the Superintendent's Office regarding meeting schedules and submission of minutes.
Qualifications:
- Strong writing, grammar, proofreading, and organizational skills.
- Ability to summarize discussions accurately and objectively.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace or similar technology.
- Prior minute-taking, administrative, or municipal experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with New Hampshire's Right-to-Know Law is helpful but not required.
Schedule: This is a part-time, as-needed position based on the Board's meeting schedule. SAU 39 is an equal opportunity employer.
