Staff Accountant Job Description

Position Overview:

The Staff Accountant will be responsible forensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, maintainingcompliance with accounting standards, and supporting financial operations.Reporting to the Controller , this role plays a key part in the month-endclose process, financial analysis, and reconciliations while workingcross-functionally to support business objectives.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in overseeing financial operations and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Participate in the month-end and year-end close processes, including the preparation of financial statements.
• Reconcile bank statements and web-based receivable accounts (e.g., Amazon, Amazon Pay, PayPal).
• Manage fixed assets, including maintaining schedules for GAAP and tax purposes, and recording depreciation/amortization entries.
• Prepare and enter journal entries, including accruals, to ensure the accurate presentation of financial statements.
• Analyze and reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts, researching discrepancies as needed.
• Support the preparation of year-end consolidating entries and coordinate with external CPAs during audits or financial reviews.
• Work closely with marketing to ensure accurate accounting of advertising expenses.
• Prepare and distribute weekly cash flow updates.
• Maintain digital filing systems for accounting records and documentation.
• Assist with special projects, financial analysis, and other assignments as directed by the Controller.
• Collaborate with other departments to resolve financial discrepancies and ensure adherence to company policies.

Qualifications:

• Education & Experience : Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in accounting.
• Technical Skills : Advanced proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Attention to Detail : Strong analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy and organization.
• Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Confidentiality & Integrity : Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion.
• Multitasking & Problem-Solving : Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work cross-functionally.
• Compliance & Best Practices : Knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
