Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Cardiac Catheterization Lab Preparation/Recovery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: Monday - Friday 11am - 7:30pm Experience: Minimum one (1) year of relevant experience License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA) Must-Have: - Plan of care - Nursing process - Patient assessment - Nursing interventions - Moderate sedation Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, and resources within the philosophy of the institution. The RN performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. The RN maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. The RN completes initial assessments upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards based on patient and family needs. The RN implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. The RN modifies the plan of care based upon continuous evaluation. The RN takes responsibility for patient safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. The RN communicates with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. The RN offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base. The RN identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions. The RN fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. The RN completes and maintains proficiency to care for and monitor patients receiving and recovering from moderate sedation. The RN performs all responsibilities required for assessing, monitoring, and removing arterial and venous sheaths. The RN remains competent in required point of care testing including glucose, ACT/ISTAT, and UHCG. The RN prepares patients for procedures with correct labs, IV placement, and shaving. The RN assists medical staff with a variety of bedside procedures, understanding the supplies needed, ordering specimens, and the necessary hemodynamic monitoring required during procedures.
