Maritime Technical Specialist - Service Delivery

The Maritime Technical Department is looking to add a Maritime Technical Specialist to join their team. This position will be based from Houston office. The Maritime Technical Specialist will be working closely with Regional Technical Manager. The individual should have a basic understanding of the general arrangement and operations of various ship types and how the main Conventions affect the construction, operation, survey, and maintenance of a ship with a working knowledge of on board maintenance and servicing requirements of life-saving and fire-fighting systems. Should be capable of timely and accurate review of incoming queries and recommendations provided by Recognized Organizations. Duties/Responsibilities Interprets IMO and other relevant codes to advise stakeholders. Independently assess and recommend solutions for all vessel types. Understand the disciplines of the Service Area, becoming familiar with the following: IT systems and Help desk Trade/Corporate compliance Technical Status Board Standard Operating Procedures Review and respond to technical queries as assigned on the Technical Status Board in specific area of expertise. Other duties as assigned. Complexity of assignments will increase with experience. Auditing Be available for travel, as needed and directed. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Education Bachelor's Degree Maritime Specific Education and Experience Maritime Specific Degree and Certifications. Suitable maritime experience forming a basis for which to be further trained as an external ISM/ISPS auditor and MLC inspector on behalf of the Administrator (for example, but not limited to, experienced ex-seafaring officer, technical superintendent, qualified internal auditor, marine inspector, Class surveyor) would be an advantage. Years of Experience 3-5 years. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
