Pay Starting at: $17.70 The CHEF’STORE Sales Associate helps maintain an atmosphere of superior customer service, promoting the US Foods strategy: Great Food, Made Easy. As a key member of our team, you will fill a variety of roles, including Cashier, Stocker, and Customer Courtesy, and must be passionate about service and model this behavior in all aspects of job performance. Schedule Part‑time, 20‑30 hours weekly. Weekends and holidays required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Front End Ensure all customers have an impeccable CHEF’STORE experience by developing and maximizing relationships with store customers. Utilize all tools learned in the CHEF’STORE Way training and model the behavior. Perform sales and cash functions in the POS efficiently and accurately. This includes scanning merchandise using a handheld scan gun or 10 keypad, weighing product on countertop scales as necessary, and looking up any product that will not scan. Ensure each item's barcode is accurately reflected and report discrepancies to Front End Lead or Manager of Day (MOD). Perform cart‑to‑cart transfer of all products at checkout, including a visual inspection to look for product tampering. Verify cart content vs. purchases as customers leave the store. Perform store opening and/or closing functions at the front end based on assigned shift. Sales Floor and Stocking Maintain focus on increasing sales and managing shrinkage. Work with customers to ensure they find the products they need and are informed of all other store services. Assist in receiving inventory shipments and stocking shelves neatly and orderly, ensuring proper rotation and product quality audits. Report low stock levels to store management. Properly label all merchandise: apply blaster tags to unscannable items, catch‑weight labels to pound‑sold items, and PLU tags to produce. Replenish sales floor daily by down‑stocking freight from top stock. Stock oldest product first following FIFO. Use reach trucks and pallet jacks as required. Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and proprietary software as needed. Keep products accessible, visually appealing, and constantly available. Assist with price changes as directed by the Pricing Lead and Store Management. Participate in inventory and cycle count processes as needed. Customer Courtesy Maintain a clean, safe environment for staff and customers by following safety policies and notifying management of issues. Ensure cleanliness of sales floor, front end, restrooms, parking lot, and entry area. Gather carts from parking lot and cart corrals and return them to designated area, ensuring they are clean and operable. Perform any additional duties assigned by Store Management. Relationships Interact with employees at all levels across the company. Interact with customers and external service providers. Work Environment Performed in a retail store setting, open to the public with occasional exposure to outside weather. Moderate noise level; work typically on level surface; ladder or elevated surface use may be required. Temperature ranges from -10 to 85 °F. Requires physical interaction with customers, lifting, walking, standing, and using hand trucks. Minimum Qualifications 6‑12 months of retail cashier and/or stocking experience. One year of retail selling and/or customer service experience preferred. Preferred Qualifications Desire to deliver exceptional customer service and adapt to assist colleagues. Provide fast, easy, efficient, professional service. Demonstrate good common sense, logical thinking, and basic math aptitude. Motivated, self‑driven, able to multi‑task, prioritize, and work independently or in a team. Available for flexible hourly schedules, including holidays and weekends. Basic computer skills, cash handling experience, and proficiency with office equipment. Education High School Diploma or equivalent work experience required.
