Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Mid Shift (12-Hour Shifts, Start Times: 10a, 11a, 12p, 1p, 3p) | Every Other Weekend Required | Every Other Holiday Required | No Call Requirement

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-volume, 65-bed Emergency Department serving a broad patient population ranging from newborns to elderly, including minor complaints through critically ill presentations such as strokes, cardiac arrests, and heart attacks
• Manage and titrate a wide variety of drips including vasopressors, cardiac drips, and antihypertensive medications
• Interpret cardiac monitor rhythms and recognize life-threatening arrhythmias; department uses Philips monitoring systems
• Perform lab draws alongside ED techs; collaborate with respiratory therapy for management of vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen devices
• Care for trauma patients post-stabilization after transfer from the trauma bay; travelers will not serve as primary nurse in the trauma bay
• Adhere to a drug-free workplace policy, including a negative drug screen for all panels prior to assignment start

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmed application in progress)
• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, ENPC or PALS, and TNCC or TNS
• Proficiency with vasopressor and cardiac drip titration
• Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately in emergent situations
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum 2 years of emergency room nursing experience
• At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment
• SANE RN certification or experience
• Prior experience working in a teaching hospital with residents
