About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: MedSurg (Hematology/Oncology) Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS required, ACLS for charge RNs Must-Have: - Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience - Recent experience in a large hospital setting with 500+ beds - Previous travel assignment experience is highly preferred - Ability to comply with on-time attendance and minimal call-offs Description: Candidates must comply with a 50-mile radius rule. Fingerprint requirement must be fulfilled remotely, allowing 10 days. An in-person option is available. A flu vaccine is required, with a deadline for vaccination of November 15. Medical exemptions are allowed but require documented evidence of severe past reactions. EPIC proficiency is required as no training will be provided on site. Experience in a Level 1 trauma center is required. Candidates should be comfortable with lines, chest tubes, hematology/oncology, and chemotherapy. Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:5, up to 1:6; lower ratios may apply for higher acuity patients. Charge nurses may take light patient assignments but will manage full loads if necessary. Staff may float between MedSurg units within their skillset, prioritizing higher acuity assignments for core staff. The department allows scheduling flexibility and accommodates block scheduling when possible. Expectations include working every other or two weekends per month. Schedules will rotate for holiday coverage with regular staff. Scrubs must be of a solid color and professionally appropriate. The first day will include paperwork, system logins, and a unit tour. Additional shifts will involve working with a preceptor.
