Clinical Laboratory AssistantThe Clinical Laboratory Assistant (CLA), under general supervision, performs a variety of tasks related to the pre-analytical processing of biological specimens for testing performed in the clinical laboratory. The CLA will perform phlebotomy collections, label, and process patient specimens for testing while maintaining the highest level of customer service. This position assists with facilitating send out testing, ensure proper patient registration, paper requisition filing, supply management support, answers phones, ensuring proper labeling of samples and sample distribution. Under the general supervision, may perform waived testing upon initial training as needed. The CLA will complete other duties as assigned.Qualifications:Education: High school diploma required.Qualifies as a Clinical Lab Assistant in one of five (5) ways required: Certified Phlebotomist through an accredited agency (ASCP preferred) and a minimum one (1) year Clinical Lab Assistant experience or; Certified as a Clinical Lab Assistant by an accredited agency (ASCP preferred). Currently a Senior enrolled in a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology. Hold at least a 2 year degree in chemical, physical, or biological science or a health related specialty.Two years experience in specimen collections, processing, requisitioning for a clinical laboratory or healthcare setting. Experience: Previous experience working in physician practice and/or hospital based lab experience preferred.Special Skills: Exemplary core customer service skills strongly required. Strong organizational skills required. Strong PC skills required. Strong verbal communication skills required.
