We bring that vision to life through our values and culture. ASSET PROTECTION Assets Protection (AP) teams function to keep our guests, team and brand secure and lead through crisis events. They protect profitable sales by mitigating shortage risks, preventing, and resolving theft and fraud to ensure product is available for our guests. They also build relationships inside and outside of Target, including store leaders and public safety officials, inclusive of law enforcement. Role Overview As a Target Security Specialist, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities: Identify, greet and assist guests, ensuring a friendly and efficient experience. Facilitate guest interactions by providing welcoming assistance, helping locate items, and maintaining a clean and organized environment. Document all incidents accurately and in a timely manner using case management systems. Respond to and manage security incidents, including theft, shortage, and suspicious activity. Use Target’s video surveillance system to monitor and investigate incidents. Leverage de‑escalation tactics and resources to maintain a safe environment. Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and support apprehensions as required by AP policies. Perform merchandise receipt checks to prevent theft and shortage, reporting trends. Promote and uphold a culture of safety, ethics, and compliance throughout the store and property. Maintain safe work practices, comply with safety policies, report hazards, and correct them when possible. Support team members in other areas and adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring guest experience. All other duties as required by business needs. Required Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age or older. High school diploma or equivalent. Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position. Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and team members. Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment. Effective communication skills. Work both independently and with a team. Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently. Maintain focus and composure in a fast‑paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes. Climb ladders and handle merchandise safely, including lifting up to 40 pounds. Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays) and ability to work in varying temperatures and conditions. Remain mobile for the duration of the scheduled shift.
