Stonington Institute, a division of one of the nation’s largest and most respected hospital companies, Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), has an immediate opening for a full-time Safety Officer. Stonington Institute is committed to providing quality substance abuse treatment options for adults in southeastern Connecticut and surrounding areas. We offer medical detox as well as residential addictions treatment for active duty and retired military service members in our North Stonington location. Our clinic in Groton, CT, offers partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment, and is conveniently located across the street from The Inn at Trails Corner, a new 180‑bed dormitory-style sober community for adult men and women who attend our outpatient day treatment programs. Monitor all building activity for assigned area(s). Verbally interact with clients requesting access to building during program day; ensure clients return to designated location via communication with Safety Officers at PHP/IOP. Supervise client lunch process and all smoke breaks, ensuring clients remain on grounds in designated smoking area at PHP. Provide support to Clinical Program Manager as requested; may include assisting with searches or providing recovery support to clients struggling to remain in program. Other duties as assigned. * This is a full‑time position. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Recovery Coach certification preferred. Valid driver’s license; Public Service License qualification or other DMV‑issued passenger endorsement preferred. Must have and maintain a driving history that meets policy standards.
